Caleb Corliss (’13) volunteered with Middlesex Land Trust during the 2012-13 academic year to develop a mapping system for MLT. Caleb’s efforts allow for efficient data compilation and standardization of MLT cartographic templates. His maps appear on the MLT website and at property trailheads. See one of his maps: Highland Pond Preserve map.
This summer (2013), Caleb is a stewardship intern with the Upper Saco Valley Land Trust, which serves 11 towns in New Hampshire and Maine. He is using fieldwork, GPS, GIS, and easement information to streamline the process of assessing easement management and violations. As part of this work, he will write a 10-year management plan fort three of the properties.
Congratulations to Caleb on applying GIS to land stewardship and conservation!
