“Putting Human Geography on the Map” Workshop
September 28, 2017
U.S. Geological Survey, Reston, Virginia
The World-Wide Human Geography Data (WWHGD) Working Group is co-sponsored by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Department of State. This free event will be held at the US Geological Survey (USGS) auditorium in Reston, Virginia.
Our objective is to take a fresh look at how organizations and people describe what they want to know about why people do, what they do, where they do it (Human Geography). We are interested in understanding exemplar data, stories, and visualizations. The event will bring together decision makers, on-the-ground leaders and analysis staff that use Human Geography information for Policy-Making, Disaster Response, Capacity Building, Economic Development and Sustainability.
Executive-level decision makers, on-the-ground leaders, analysts, and practitioners who use Human Geography information will participate in facilitated, open discussions focusing on:
- Use of data, stories, and visualizations
- Improving data, stories, and visualizations across all levels and organizations
- Linking data and information to decisions
- Community engagement
A detailed agenda will be published in the coming weeks.
