GA position in GIScience at University of South Florida

A graduate assistant position is available in the School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida beginning in August 2021. The graduate assistant will focus on 1) developing new analytical tools for multi-scale spatio-temporal data, and/or 2) applying big data and GeoAI in disaster resilience analyses. Applicants should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. geography, GIS, computer science, environmental science or urban planning) with experience in spatial analysis, statistical modeling and basic programming skills (e.g. Python or R). Good written/oral communication skills, self-motivation and the ability to conduct independent and collaborative research are desired.

Funding support include monthly stipend, tuition waiver, computing equipment and conference travels. The contract will be renewable annually based on the satisfactory performance and funding availability. The position is open for students pursuing an MA and PhD degree, although priority will be given to PhD applicants.
