POSITION: Engineer II/GIS Mapping Technician

SALARY: $59,536 – $79,784
RESPONSIBILITIES: Receives general direction from the Town Engineer, Assistant Town Engineer or Director. The position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative/professional engineering tasks which support Town and departmental functions. The position is also responsible for managing the Town’s Geographic Information System (GIS) land database and includes coordinating miscellaneous engineering functions. The position is in daily contact with the public and other Town employees regarding departmental functions. Provides GIS engineering support for various Town Boards and Departments; acts as a liaison with other regional GIS personnel. Other tasks assigned as per the job description.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Cartography, CAD, or Computer Science plus two years’ work experience in a directly related field. Must be familiar with computer software including but not limited to ArcGIS software suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and have the ability to learn specific software related to the Town of Westport. Must have or be able to obtain GISP certification as established by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) within one year of employment.
Criminal background, drug testing, driving record checks and reference checks required prior to employment. Must have and maintain a valid CT Driver’s License.
