GIS Working Group Meeting
Story Maps: What they are and how to leverage them in your classroom
Friday, May 5, 12:30 pm
PAC 136
Join fellow faculty and staff members for an informal discussion about integrating Story Maps into courses. We will discuss the utility of story maps as a pedagogical tool in a variety of courses on campus. Story maps combine interactive online maps with other content (text, photos, video, audio) to portray a place, event, issue, or pattern within a geographic context. Story maps can use the tools of a geographic information system but don’t require creators or users to have any special knowledge of GIS. Faculty members have used story maps as alternatives to reports and presentations or as stand-alone projects. (For an overview of story maps go to http://storymaps.arcgis.com/en/.) All are welcome to join the conversation.
