Want to use maps to illustrate or discern spatial patterns in your data but don’t want to learn an entire geographic information systems (GIS) software package? I am offering a hands-on workshop for faculty and staff on ESRI Maps for Microsoft Office. ESRI is the parent software company for the main GIS software on campus (ArcGIS) and has created an add-on for Microsoft Excel that allows users to quickly create maps from their data. Participants will create dynamic color-coded, point, clustered point, and heat maps in Excel, add external demographic data to the maps, and share the maps through ArcGIS Online or PowerPoint.
