Ph.D. Research Assistantship in Geographic Data Science

The Department of Geography at the University of Utah is recruiting a PhD student to work on projects in the realm of Geographic Data Science with application to issues of health, mobility and environment. Qualified candidates should have at least a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. geography, computer science, statistics, public health or social science), a strong interest in statistics, data mining and machine learning, and experience with programming for geospatial analysis (R, Python). Besides a guaranteed 4 year funding package, exciting opportunities await the successful applicant to gain training and experience in spatiotemporal computing, big data analytics, spatial statistics, and geovisualization.
