EPA geography position

A new position for a Physical Scientist/ Geographer has been announced in the Climate Science & Impacts Branch at U.S. EPA Headquarters in Washington, DC. At the entry level of this position, the person selected will:

  • Prepare and manage technical analyses of climate and impacts research to advance the application of those results to climate analyses and agency policy processes;
  • Prepare materials summarizing analyses for management and senior staff within EPA, within other government agencies, and internationally;
  • Communicate climate change science and impacts with internal and external teams and stakeholders in support of the Branch and Division goals; and
  • Manage the scope of work assignments issued against Division contracts.

 

Depending on qualifications and experience, the starting salary is $57,510 to $90,461 per year.

 

To qualify as a Physical Scientist: You must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in one of the following: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics; OR a combination of education and experience — education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

 

To qualify as a Geographer: You must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in one of the following:  geography; or related physical or social science that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields; OR a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as listed.
