GIS Postdoc position available at Stanford

2-year Postdoctoral Scholar Position in Ecology

The Santa Cruz Mountains Stewardship Network (SCMSN) is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to conduct research that will help in promoting ecological sustainability in the Santa Cruz Mountains Region of California. The postdoc will be based out of Stanford University at Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve, and will take a leading role in developing a digital atlas that will form a nexus for designing research on how to enhance ecological stewardship at the landscape scale. The position will enable close interactions with the Stanford academic community and with members of the SCMSN, a consortium of land stewards working together to understand the relationships between ecological and societal health. The ideal candidate will have strong GIS skills, the ability to work effectively and collegially in a team setting, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, a demonstrated ability to work independently and productively, and research interests relevant to understanding how humans both influence and are dependent upon the ecosystems in which they are embedded.

Interested applicants should e-mail a cover letter summarizing their qualifications, a c.v., and the names and contact information for three professional references to: Dylan Skybrook, SCSMN Network Coordinator, at dylan@scmsn.net by August 15, 2018.
